So Lapalux just released his new EP, When You’re Gone, on Brainfeeder. The EP’s warpy banger, “Gutter Glitter” is posted below via the artist’s Soundcloud. “Warped” would be the best word to describe Stuart Howard’s style: it’s vague enough to indicate both spacey atmospherics and glitchy bass-heaviness. The tendency he displayed on his previous release, Many Faces Out of Focus, to effectively warp the main lines into oblivion is tempered on these new tracks (I’d even go so far as to say he’s trying to make more dancefloor-friendly tunes). It’s the kind of record that will really make you wish you had better headphones or a sweet set of top-of-the-line monitors regardless of the quality of your present listening set-up.
Play ball.
