It’s finally here. Greedhead said they’d be releasing a TV Girl tape and now they have. I of course haven’t listened to it yet because I’m in the library working my fingers to the bone, but I’m sure it’s great. I mean, have you listened to all the other TV Girl stuff I’ve posted? These kids are going places // they just did.
I was telling you about TV Girl this past summer after I heard their track ‘Benny and the Jetts’ while waking up on a porch in the hills of CT, totally cogitating about how awesome my life was, totally blissing out. Now I’m telling you about them again, under new circumstances. A) TV Girl is going to be releasing their next tape [soon] under Heems’ lovelabel Greedhead and 2) My life is… different. Either way, TV Girl’s new jam ‘I Wonder Who She’s Kissing Now’ is wonderful and cloudless (as long as you don’t pay attention to the lyrics) just like ‘Benny’ is and just like the days have been on this holiday weekend. I came across San Diego male duo TV Girl a little while ago, and they were friendly enough to send out an email regarding the release of their newest EP Benny and the Jetts. The EP sneaks in at just under 10 minutes long, and is a palatable medley of styles that will keep you guessing exactly what it reminds you of from track to track, but not exactly caring.. The title track is a grooving drum driven tune about a dude’s girl driving away listening to some Elton John song, while the others rely more on their well chosen samples to create a partying, almost tropical sound that makes me think of the best parts of The Avalanches.
