I guess “done for the time being” meant until now. Sam Ray dusts off the ol’ solo shoes with the Ashanti-groovin’ track, “(stay).” Fans haven’t even had time to take the latest Teen Suicide off of repeat yet.
The track is calm but there’s a strong melancholy tone to the chillness, which pairs beautifully with the sample. Sam draws out the desperate emotion in the instantly recognizable lines from “Foolish” with a higher pitch and impatient repetition. And at the end of the song the feel is off the charts; Sam completely assimilates the sample into his own art. Yeah and the whole “staying” thing of course makes too much sense. Love it.
