A couple weeks ago Jay inboxed me a new single called “White Cloud”. With moving into a new house and all that nonsense, I’ve had little time on my hands. BUT, a few daze ago, Jay sent over the album ”Takoma Park”. I knew it would be here sometime by the end of the year, but it still caught me by surprise.
When we talked to Jay about his little EP “One Million Sunsets“, he was basically just trying some of these techniques out. The DC native was mostly influenced by hip-hop then the wavy stuff came naturally. I was stoked to post on that EP and I’m also rill happy with the way this album is sounding. He mentioned that “Takoma Park” is an extension of the sound he had crafted on “One Million Sunsets”, you could definitely hear that. You could also hear his sound progressing, things seem a little bit more complex as he’s adding more into the mix.
Jay explains that his stuff is “hard to categorize”, he says: “hip-hop oriented… with heavy splashes of chillwave, ambient, and synth-pop…” but then he goes onto say “But whatever! I just hope everyone can enjoy it as good music.” So, don’t get too caught up in trying to categorize everything! Just listen to it!
