I came across San Diego male duo TV Girl a little while ago, and they were friendly enough to send out an email regarding the release of their newest EP Benny and the Jetts. The EP sneaks in at just under 10 minutes long, and is a palatable medley of styles that will keep you guessing exactly what it reminds you of from track to track, but not exactly caring.. The title track is a grooving drum driven tune about a dude’s girl driving away listening to some Elton John song, while the others rely more on their well chosen samples to create a partying, almost tropical sound that makes me think of the best parts of The Avalanches.
